It would take me a lifetime to share my most fondest memories of my Uncle! So, I will share a few.
Each time I would visit the Patterson's, Unc would take me out in the backyard to pick oranges off the orange tree. And you couldn't forget that grapefruit tree either, even tho I did not like grapefruits!
Unc would make sure there was always enough inventory of "Mr Pib" in the fridge for my visits. He knew it was my favorite.
On several occasions when he came home from work he would walk in the door holding something behind his back with this big grin on his face. He was so proud to give me a few of those bright orange Sanitation tee shirts! I loved wearing them especially when I went back home. It always made me think of him.
Often Unc would come home with a mango given to him from one of the guys. He swore it was the best tasting fruit on the planet! He wanted everyone in the house to try it. I swear, this was a frequent event. And each time all of us said YUCK!
My Uncle Ricky was the most kind, caring and compassionate human being you could ever meet. (Those are just a few adjectives to say the least)!
Boy did Unc have the gift to gab! He was able to talk & talk & talk! He would talk to anyone that looked at him. He loved all people and had respect for everyone.
In many ways he was like the father I never had. Hence caring, compassionate, understanding and more. He will never leave my heart or head which hold all of those happy memories.
May his memory be a blessing. . . We loved him more than words can ever say.
