Richard Paul Morelli's Obituary
Richard Paul Morelli, 78, of Wesley Chapel sadly passed away on August 5, 2024 at home with his family beside him. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 28, 1946 to his parents Frank and Marjorie Morelli, Rick was the first grandchild or Ortenza and Frank Morelli. Ironically, he was also the first of his family to pass away. In 1968, Rick enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was stationed on Kodiak Island, Alaska for two years before he returned home and spent two more years in Washington D.C. where he worked for the Defense Intelligence Agency at both the Pentagon and the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Shortly thereafter, he took a job in Seminole, Florida with the Superior Uniform Group, where he worked until retiring after 30 years in 2013. Rick's biggest passion was for music, however, and he was an accomplished drummer.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marjorie Morelli. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Jacquelyn Morelli, his sister Dorene Coffee, many nieces and nephews in the Boston area, and his many extended family members in Pittsburgh.
The memory of his life will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rick's honor to the American Cancer Society or The Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Memorial Park Funeral Home in St. Petersburg, Florida beginning at 2:00 pm.
