Mr. Richard John Lubas' Obituary
Richard John Lubas passed away at St Anthony’s Hospital in Saint Petersburg, Florida on Monday, November 23, 2015 at the age of 69.
He is survived by his mother, Felicia Lubas, and his four children, Heather Lubas, Nicklas Lubas, Alisha Lubas, and Britget Lubas.
Richard was born in Nancy, France on June 26, 1946 and came to the United States as an infant with his mother, to reunite with his father in Utica, NY. Upon turning 18, he enlisted in the United States Army. Although he joined the Army during the Vietnam War, he was never deployed to Vietnam. Germany was his permanent duty station where he patrolled the border between East and West Germany and spent time training for a Soviet/Warsaw Pact Invasion of West Europe. He received an honorable discharge in 1971.
In 1969, Richard married his first wife, Peggy, and in 1971 had his first daughter, Heather. He relocated to Saint Petersburg, Florida. In 1980, Richard married his second wife, Gail, and had three more children – in 1982 his only son, Nick, and in 1989 twin girls, Alisha and Britget.
Richard was an ASE certified mechanic, and spent the majority of his career working on automobiles. He was mechanically inclined and you could always count on him for a tip or solution to any of your home improvement projects. Richard was a member of the American Legion of St Petersburg and a member of the Fraternity Order of Eagles. In his spare time, you could typically find him at the shooting range practicing his shot, or visiting his favorite watering hole, Wilson’s.
Service date & time at Memorial Park Cemetery is Saturday December 5th at 10:00am in the North Mausoleum Courtyard.
