Richard Eugene Howard's Obituary
Richard E. Howard of St. Petersburg, Fl. passed away on July 4th, 2012 at the age of 77. He was born in Hagerstown, Md. to George and Catherine Howard.
He is survived by his wife Faye Howard, two children: George Thomas Howard of Emmas, Pa. and Margaret Catherine Clouse of Reading, Pa. He also has a sister, Anna Mae Barber in Funkstown, Md.
Richard served in the Army from 1952-1957 and was stationed in Nome, Alaska during the Korean War.
Richard held several jobs throughout his lengthy career including: County Constable for Hagerstown, Md, Deputy Sheriff for Washington Co.Md., Police Chief of Thermont Md. and Police Chief for Cumberland Township, Pa.; which included Gettysburg.
He then moved to St. Petersburg, Fl. in 1978. He worked as a security guard at the Tyrone Mall, then was Dir. of Security for Horizon Hospital and lastly worked security for the Don Cesar Hotel on St. Pete Beach for 20 years, retiring form there in April of 2010.
Richard was a member of the American Legion, Funkstown Md., and the National Assoc. of Chiefs of Police, serving as 1st Vice Pres. for many years.
