Richard Lee Hilburn's Obituary
Richard Lee Hilburn was called home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2025, at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Florida. Born on April 2, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia—a city then emerging as a center of Southern progress and resilience—Richard’s life was rooted in Christian faith, purpose, and service.
A devoted believer in God, Richard lived his life as a testament to unwavering faith and spiritual conviction. He often spoke of his journey as one guided by divine purpose, and now that journey is complete. His goals fulfilled and his earthly body laid to rest, he entered eternal peace in the presence of his Savior.
Richard married his high school sweetheart, Michelle Hilburn née Buenzli. He was on the football team, and she was a cheerleader. A marriage marked by deep love and shared faith, blessed with 59 years of matrimony. Together, they were passionate supporters of the Nation of Israel and Messianic Jewish ministries. For many years, Richard served as an esteemed board member of the ministry of Jewish Jewels in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Before retiring, Richard held the position of Vice President Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley. In both his professional and personal life, he exemplified integrity and dedication.
He was also a lifelong member of the St. Pete Yacht Club, where he found joy and camaraderie among fellow members.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 2 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m., both at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Richard’s life was one of devotion—to God, to those he loved, and to the calling placed upon him. Though he has departed this world, his spirit remains ever present in the hearts of those blessed to have known him. May his memory bring comfort and peace until we meet again in glory.
