Richard Raymond Garbarino's Obituary
Richard is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mindy Garbarino, who together moved to Seminole, Florida in June 2021.
Born to Guido Garbarino and Mary Taylor Garbarino, Richard was one of eight children. He is survived by Jane Manning, Guido Garbarino (Barbara Garbarino), Thomas Garbarino (Phyllis Garbarino). Predeceased by John Garbarino, Jim Garbarino, Robert Garbarino, William Garbarino.
Richard passed peacefully in his sleep Wednesday morning October 23, 2024. He was born and raised in Bronx, NY. He graduated from Iona College with a Bachelor’s Degree. Professionally he continued a family tradition as a Project Manager for George A Fuller Construction. In his “spare time”, together with his friend Bob Hyland they built, owned and opened The Sports Page Tavern in White Plains, NY.
Three things were of utmost importance to Richard - family, friends and the New York Athletic Club. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for family and friends. He was always there for the people he cared about, ready to help in every way he could. As for the NYAC, to say he gave his blood, sweat, and tears, every single weekend wouldn’t begin to express his dedication and commitment. In fact he devoted 60+ years. He began his affiliation as a child enrolled in the Saturday Morning Program (SMP). This program introduces children to Olympic sports as well as teaching life skills. After aging out of the program, he continued on as a counselor, and through his continued dedication and devotion moved on to become President of the SMP. He had such a profound impact on so many children that many still keep in touch as adults to this day, and who in turn have enrolled their own children in the Saturday Morning Program.
Richard you are loved and will be missed more than you can imagine, by more than you can imagine. Your legacy will continue because of your works. I have no doubt you are already organizing the youth up in heaven.
Until we meet again.
