Richard Angelica's Obituary
Richard Angelica 84 of St Petersburg, Florida passed away on July 19, 2026, from Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Mingo Junction, Ohio on July 25, 1941, the son of the late “Luigi” and Margherita (Romano) Angelica.
Rich graduated from Mingo High School in 1959 and The College of Steubenville and WVU with a Master's Degree in Education Administration.
Rich was a lifelong educator who taught 40 years at Mingo High School, Jr High, and Indian Creek Middle School. He was advisor to The Key Club, Pep Club and the Jr Class at Mingo High School and was the Principal at Mingo Jr High. He taught History, Government, Geography, Civics, and Driver’s Ed., and was advisor of The Close-Up program in Washington DC for Indian Creek Schools and was an educational tour guide for Travel on Student Tours. Rich also served his community as President of the Mingo Lions Club and the Alpha Phi Delta Steubenville Alumni Club. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, The Columbus Club, The Knights of St Anthony, The Italian Cultural Club, The Dean Martin Committee, St Peter’s Catholic Church, Holy Family Catholic Church in St Petersburg, Fl, and former coach of Mingo Little League Baseball. Rich was also a Bocce Ball Champion and loved the sport. He loved traveling around the country and meeting new people with his wife who performs at many Music Festivals.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Lou and Danny Angelica and 3 sisters Ann Graves, Evelyn Davis and Rose Haysler.
Surviving is his wife Rose Gron Angelica, and his sons Rich Angelica of Mingo Junction, Ohio, and Chris Angelica of DeBary, Florida, and one granddaughter Cecilia Angelica, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In following with Richard’s wishes a funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in St Petersburg, Florida, and a private burial with family and friends will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction, Ohio.
