Renee Laura May Goodier's Obituary
Mrs. William R. H. Goodier (Renee) formerly of N. Redington Beach and residing since 2009 at Regal Palms in Largo, Florida, died on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Morton Plant Mease Hospital. Renee Tilley was born on May 28, 1911 in Tilt Cove, Newfoundland, and became a Salvation Army Officer in Canada. She married William R. H. Goodier in Montreal on September 16, 1936 and moved to the United States in 1940. The Goodiers both served in leadership positions with The Salvation Army for 41 years primarily in the Southeastern United States and New York, as well as two years as Territorial Commanders in Melbourne Australia. Their final appointment before retirement was in New York City where Commissioner William Goodier was Territorial Commander for the Northeastern United States and Mrs. Goodier was Territorial President of the Salvation Army Women's Organizations. Following their retirement in 1982, Renee moved with her husband to N. Redington Beach, Florida where they resided for 27 years before moving to Largo in 2009. Renee assumed a leadership role with the Salvation Army Home League women's group in St. Petersburg and regularly attended the Clearwater Corps. She is survived by her beloved husband of 75 years, William Goodier of Largo, by three children, Joan Robinson of Indian Shores, William Goodier of Cumming, GA and Robert Goodier of Cedar Point, NC. She is also survived by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
