Renate Ostrovskis' Obituary
Renate Ostrovskis, 92 passed peacefully Wednesday June 17th. She was born on the northern edge of the Black Forrest in Pforzheim, Germany May 25th, 1934. She met the love of her life, Richards Ostrovskis, at a dance hall and they later married in June 1956. After the birth of her first child and pregnant with her second, a desire for a better life brought her across the Atlantic Ocean. Together with Richards she immigrated to New York via sponsorship by Ella Starrs. Unable to speak the language and in a foreign country with great fortitude she alone managed the children and their home.
The commitment to build a better life turned to the sunshine state, June 1st, 1972, Renate and Richards purchased the Sea Palms Motel and Polynesian Putter on St. Pete Beach. The Ostrovskis family maintained the property and Renate owned it until the rising tide of Hurricane Helene in 2024.
Renate once again, with great fortitude picked up the pieces of what the ocean had not carried away and lived out the remainder of her days with her son and daughter-in-law.
Renate was an avid traveler who embarked on countless cruise adventures over the years. She also enjoyed the lights and sounds of the slots at the casino. Above all else she loved her family and her Pekinese, Coco.
She is survived by her 2 children, daughter Gabriele Knight and her husband Robert, Son Rolf Ostrovskis and his wife Sheila; 2 grandchildren; Tonia Donaldson and her husband Merle, Jessica Cruse and her husband Cameron; 2 great grandchildren; Mila Donadlson and Carson Cruse.
