Raymond Francis Cornett Jr's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Raymond Francis Cornett, Jr.
May 23rd, 1938 – May 4th, 2026
We celebrate the beautiful life of Raymond Francis Cornett, Jr., lovingly called Ray, whose quiet strength and bright mind touched everyone he met. He passed away on May 4th, 2026 at Hospice House, Wimauma, FL, closing a long journey with dementia and having suffered a stroke.
Ray was born on May 23rd, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA and grew up curious about how things worked. He carried that curiosity into a career as a mechanical engineer, always ready to pick up a tool and solve a problem.
Those who knew Ray remember his kind, hardworking ethic. Even after a full day of work, he found joy in tinkering, always eager to learn something new or improve a small project around the house. Ray’s favorite hours were spent reading, working on puzzles, working in the garage, or feeling the sand under his feet at the beach. These simple pleasures showed his love for peaceful moments.
Family meant everything to Ray. He shared sixty three loving years with his wife Judy Cervone Cornett. Their daughters, Kathi (and Brian Ruff), Karen (and Dan Leary), and Cindy (and John Lunde). His grandchildren, Andy, Danny, Kristi, Ryan, Aidan, Weston, and Keegan will always remember a Pap who cheered their every step.
Ray’s family and friends take comfort in the steady mark he left: a tool bench well-used, books well-read, and a legacy of problem-solving paired with a kind heart. Though we will miss him terribly, we smile knowing his example of loyalty and hard work lives on in each project finished and each act of quiet help we give to others.
