Peggy R. Pope's Obituary
Peggy R. Pope of Lakeland, Florida and formerly of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Arbor Oaks, she was 94.
She was born June 22, 1925 in Wheeling, West Virginia; the beloved daughter of the late George William and Blanche Becker.
After graduating high school she moved to Ft. Lauderdale and worked as waitress at a local restaurant. She met her husband Dale Pope after he sat down at one of her tables and she waited on him. They were married shortly after on April 2, 1947. Dale and Peggy were married for 67 years and had 2 children. Peggy was a banker a majority of her life. They lived in St. Petersburg for fifty years. In the fall of 2016, she moved to Lakeland to be closer to her daughter. She made many friends at her new home at Arbor Hills. Some of her favorite things were bowling, making crafts and playing bingo. However, the thing she loved the most was being ”GG” to her great-grandson Owen.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, William (Bill) Becker and her husband Dale L. Pope.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Frank Foreback of Lakeland, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Dale W. and Sue Pope of TN; grandchildren, Jeffrey Foreback and his fiancée Andrea Mennell of Lakeland, Fl; Ryan Foreback and his wife, Jillian of Lakeland, Fl; granddaughter Heather and her husband James Robbins of TN; and 3 great grandchildren Jonah and Benjamin Robbins and Owen Foreback. And her faithful and constant companion Dude. Peggy was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home 5750 49th Street North, St Petersburg, FL 33709. She will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Petersburg, FL.
