Mrs. Pauline "Polly" Olinger Coons' Obituary
Pauline (Polly) Olinger Coons, 86, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Providence Alaska Medical Center, Anchorage, Alaska.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Memorial Gardens, in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Pauline was born October 28, 1928 to Luther and Delia (Allen) Croucher in Hamilton, Ohio. She married brother Lloyd’s WWLL buddy, Ernest Olinger of Hamilton in 1946. They spent many vacations on Florida beaches, and finally in 1959 moved to St. Petersburg. Ernest passed away in 1985. Polly then met and married Charles Coons in 1993 and they were together until his passing in 2000. She spent the majority of her career in retail sales, and retired from Publix Supermarket after 20 years of service. She attended Suncoast Cathedral in St. Petersburg and was an active member of the Choir and Silver Saints. Polly moved to Anchorage in 2010 due to an illness to live with her daughter Karen and son-in-law Rob Cowart.
“Our Mom will be remembered for her style and grace. She loved to dance, sing and laugh. She loved to sew and bake and was known for her delicious pecan pies and many other desserts. Mom loved the Lord, and Heaven welcomed a saint home at her passing,” quoted her family.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Delia Croucher; and her husbands, Ernest Olinger, Charles Coons, and siblings.. She is survived by daughters, Karen (Rob) Cowart of Anchorage, and Linda Henson of St. Petersburg, FL; grandsons, Alan Cowart of Anchorage, and Gary Henson of St. Petersburg, FL; granddaughters Rebecca Cowart (David) Wilkerson of Wasilla, Alaska and Elizabeth Henson of Moscow Mills, MO. and seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
