Paul Anthony Phillibert's Obituary
Paul Anthony Phillibert was born to mother Corrine Ann and father Herbert Phillibert on the first of January 1964 in Kingston, Jamaica. He grew up in a multi-generational home nestled up on a hill in in Harbour View which included his maternal grandmother Gracia Christian and proud big brother Patrick. Life was uncomplicated and days were filled with enjoying school, church and family time. Paul fondly spoke of he and his brother playing with the only three toys they had; a bicycle, a little red wagon which he and Patrick enjoyed running up and down the driveway with and a Tonka truck which Paul laughingly admitted he didn't give up for sharing too easily because he loved that truck. In 1977, the family made a decision to relocate to St. Petersburg, Florida where they purchased the family home which remains today. A fresh chapter began with a new school and new possibilities. Paul attended and graduated from St. Petersburg High School. He was like most youths taking on an after school job and was happy to obtain employment with the nearby Publix Supermarket. After graduation, he continued to work his way up through the company until he reached a grocery management position that turned into his 40 year career. Paul was a private and quiet person who mostly kept to himself but enjoyed the simple things in life such as going to the pool at the YMCA, and driving while sightseeing around the beaches and city. He also enjoyed going to dinner once in awhile with his friends. He had a delightful and joyous personality and his laughter was infectious. He was just a huggable teddy bear. Although reserved, his heart served as a magnet which drew and attached people toward his inner thoughts of pure kindness and love for others. His assignment in life was completed by passing on the truth that we are all connected to each other because our creator lived in and through Paul and our creator's love continues through us. Paul's mission leaves instructions to spread mindfulness, kindness, love and laughter while in this life. Help others where possible, so they too, may continue to pass the torch that spreads light in the world. Above all, live unapologetically and authentically. May his memory continue to be a blessing.
A gathering will be held on Saturday, February 7th from 9:30am until service time at 10:30am at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
