Ormond V. Ferdon's Obituary
Ormond “Vonnie” Ferdon went home to be with Jesus on July 24, 2021 at age 85.
Ormond was born to Ormond and Marvalean Ferdon on August 21, 1935 in Arcadia, Florida. He graduated from Thomas Vocational School in 1953. Ormond married the love of his life, Darlene Rocker, on June 28, 1955. They were happily married for 66 wonderful years and had three children, Ken, Brenda, and Diana who died shortly after birth.
Ormond worked for many years in the meat industry for Swift Meat Company and Armor Meats. He owned his own lawn company, Green Vista Lawn Care, for 10 years. He worked for many years at Northside Christian Schools until his retirement.
Ormond was a very loving and devoted husband, dad, and papa. He absolutely loved spending time with family and was very involved in his children’s and granddaughter’s lives. Ormond was also very involved in his church serving as a deacon and usher. He loved to collect classic model cars and listen to Southern Gospel quartet music. He also enjoyed watching all of the Tampa Bay sports team play.
Ormond is survived by his wife, Darlene; his son, Ken; his daughter, Brenda (Steve) Monticelli; his sister, Ormalean Potsubay; his granddaughters, Breanna and Marissa; his great granddaughter, Nyla; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Diana; and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on July 31st at 2:00pm.
