Mrs. Olga Simonetti's Obituary
Simonetti, Olga (nee Pashelok), age 95 of Pinellas Park, joined her “Babe” Peter, of December 11, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she married Peter Simonetti in July6 1952. They lived in Long Island with Mrs. Simonetti’s mother, Anna Pashelok, then moved to Pompton Plains, NJ. They still took care of Mrs. Simonetti’s mother in their home until Anna’s death in 1962. Their daughter Karen was born in January 1961. Olga was very involved in Karen’s school life and Girl Scouts, including chaperoning an infamous camping trip in November 1973 of which Karen’s G.S. friends still remember to this day. Olga had many friends in NJ and continued to make friends when the family moved to Hudson, FL in 1975. She and Karen volunteered for the Hudson Library and made friends quickly with the late Library Director Rita Wikenczy. The family moved for the last time to Pinellas Park where she once more volunteered for the Pinellas Park High School Library. She also babysat when a young couple, Jacque and Warren France, who had moved in across the street in 1982 and Alexandra “Ali” Dominique was born in August. Olga and Karen loved babysitting and made friends quickly with Jacque and Warren. After Karen married Richard Russo in 1991, Olga continued to pursue her hobbies, including Bingo (Seminole Indians), crossword puzzles, daytime t.v. (including soaps), and babysitting. As years went by, she gradually slowed in her activities and chose instead to spend most of her time with her beloved husband. By that time Jacque and Warren had moved, the kids (Preston Everett was born a couple years after Ali) grew up and time just went by. When Peter turned 90 their health started to decline and Mrs. Simonetti stayed by her husband’s side until his death in 2009. Mrs. Simonetti managed to live alone in the home she shared with Peter with help from wonderful neighbors among other folks until she became ill in July 2011, when she entered Gulf Shore Rehab and Nursing in Pinellas Park. Mrs. Simonetti was predeceased by her father, Max Pashelok, sister Sophie Shulgon, nephews John and Alfred Salamista, and niece Marie Salamista. Olga is survived by her daughter Karen Russo, son-in-law, Richard Russo of Pinellas Park, two granddaughters, Christy Volckman (daughter Victoria Anna) and Jean Sterner (daughter Emily Rose) of St. Petersburg, five other great-grandchildren, three nieces and many other family and friends. She will be forever missed and loved by her daughter, Karen and everyone whose lives she touched.Other survivors included niece Christine (Dwight) Randolph of Ellenton, FL, great-niece Heather (Lance) Walker of Illinois, & great nephew David Randolph of Ellenton & their children.
