Norman "Norm" Eugene DeMeza's Obituary
Norman E. DeMeza, 80, peacefully died on 2/13/24 surrounded by family at American House, St. Petersburg, FL. Norm was born on 11/27/43 in Riverdale, MD and came to FL in 1953. He earned a BSME from UF and an MSE from USF. After a combined 35-yr. career with GEND in Largo, FL and Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM, Norm retired and returned to FL. He became actively involved volunteering for St. Vincent de Paul, St. Matthew’s Chapter, serving in various positions over 20 years. His talents as the family handyman live on with his many remodeling projects.
Norm is preceded in death by parents Norman L. and Norma DeMeza and is survived by Janice, his wife of nearly 54 years, children Christie Russell (Scott), Joel DeMeza (Cher), and Elaina Smith (Kevin), seven grandchildren, brother Vince DeMeza (Kathy), and sister Debra Taylor (Bill) in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A special thank you to the staff of American House who filled his final day with love and support.
Services will be held at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 9111 – 90th Ave. N., Largo, at 11 AM on Friday, February 23, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or National Kidney Foundation.
