Noemi Gerena's Obituary
Noemi “Tatin” Gerena, was born February 16, 1946, in Canóvanas, Puerto Rico, and fell asleep in death September 1, 2025, at 7:04 am.
Noemi was affectionately known as a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in her Almighty God, Jehovah. As an affectionate, nurturing, and caring mother her deep love for all her children and grandchildren was like the ocean- vast, profound, and all-encompassing.
She was the first in her family to graduate from high school — a milestone that marked her determination and strength.
She shared her life in marriage as a loyal wife to Ismael Gerena on January 22, 1965, until he passed away on August 14, 2007. They cherished celebrating each anniversary in the company of their children, family, and friends particularly when the occasion brought everyone together to enjoy Alaskan King crabs.
At the “Divine Love” Convention in Lakeland, Florida on October 10, 1980, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a profound expression of her faith and devotion as a spiritual woman that would guide her throughout her life. Soon after her baptism, moved with such appreciation that she started to serve as a regular pioneer helping others full-time to learn what the Bible teaches.
Throughout her life, she found joy in helping others, offering kindness, support, and encouragement wherever it was needed. Her heart was especially open to those starting a new life here in the United States. Helping countless families and individuals through practical assistance, offering support immediately, and generously, always ensuring that no one felt alone in their struggles.
Her falling asleep in death has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose life was touched by her. We ask that she be remembered not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived. Noemi will be remembered for her infectious smile, love of food, incredible baking skills, dancing, and deeply rooted faith. She was committed to spreading love and kindness to everyone she encountered and her legacy of love and compassion will be continued through her surviving six children, Raquel Black, Omar Gerena, Lisa Marti, Rebeca Gerena, Ismael Gerena Jr., and Ana Maritsa Ryan. Also survived by her grandchildren Joshua, Chloe, Jordan, Nathan, Victoria, Giovani, Nigella, Ismael III, Ariella, and Jayden, and 1 great granddaughter Kalia.
