Michael "Mike" A. Van Berkum's Obituary
Michael Anthony Van Berkum passed away on April 27, 2025, in Clearwater, Florida, at the age of 63. Born on November 15, 1961, in Denver, Colorado, Michael lived a life marked by loyalty, humor, and a deep sense of duty.
A proud patriot, Michael served his country with honor in the United States Army as part of the 82nd Airborne Division. He took great pride in his service and especially cherished the experience of parachuting from airplanes—a testament to his fearless spirit.
Known for his sharp wit and love of pranks, Michael brought laughter to those around him. Beneath his tough exterior was a generous heart. He was fiercely protective of those he cared for—his family, friends, and beloved dogs—and gave selflessly to support them.
Michael had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid gun enthusiast. As a teenager, he was active in sports, playing football, baseball, and basketball.
He is predeceased by his daughter Jaschelle, his father Tunis, and his brother Paul. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Armida and Mike; grandchildren Anthony Jr., Bobby, and Sophia; stepsons Robert, Jonathan, and Jesse; siblings Fred, Tommy (Cori), Tunis (Carli), and Shani; half-siblings Denae and Brian; and many nieces and nephews including Vince, Chase, Noah, Hannah, Paris, Maverick, James, Trey, and Christopher.
