Mr. Michael Holmes Makinson's Obituary
Michael Holmes Makinson passed away peacefully at home after a long fight with lung cancer on Sunday December 7th, 2014. A longtime resident of St. Pete Beach, Florida, Mike was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to the western suburbs at the age of 7. He was an avid, longtime fan of the Miami Dolphins. That and his family were the loves of his life. Michael was a carpenter, by trade, whose talents in making things with his hands helped many people over the years.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene (nee Hale) and daughters Deborah (Lee Mannes) of St. Petersburg, Diane Benoist of Largo, Darlene (Craig Mellott) of Casselberry and his 4 grandchildren Michael Benoist, Alexis Benoist, Brennan Mellott and Camden Mellott. He also leaves behind his brothers, Jack and Dan.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ian Kenneth and Laurie (nee Bronson) Makinson, brother Gary Makinson and sons-in-law F. Blaine Benoist and Gregory Dean.
Arrangements have been made for a Funeral Mass on Saturday December 20th, 2014 at 11:30am. Mass will be at Michael’s church, St. John’s Vianney Catholic Church, 445 82nd Ave, St. Pete Beach, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family is encouraging donations be made in Mike’s name to Suncoast Hospice ( www.TheHospice.org ) or to the American Lung Association ( www.Lung.org )
