Mary Frances Lawrie's Obituary
LAWRIE, MARY FRANCES (JACKSON), 80, passed away on March 21, 2018. A St. Petersburg native, born to Chester H. Jackson and Pauline Elizabeth Klimmt. Graduated from Northeast High School, Class of 1956, University of Florida, Class of 1960, plus a Master’s Degree in Education. She dedicated her life to children, teaching elementary school for over 40 years, retiring as librarian at Seminole Elementary School in 2003. She served many summers as a camp counselor; past President of The Garden Club of St. Petersburg, where she spearheaded the club’s Summer Camp program; was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as a music librarian and choir member; and parented foster children. She is survived by a daughter, Heather McNany, Brooksville; sister, Helen Poole, Clyde, NC; aunt, Gladys Squiers, Falmouth, MA, and grandchildren, Shane, Spencer, Summer & Hunter. A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 6th, 2018, at First Baptist Church with visitation at 2 pm until service at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 1900 Gandy Blvd., St. Petersburg, FL 33702 or to a Scholarship Fund for Summer Campers at The Garden Club of St. Petersburg, 500 Sunset Dr. S., St. Petersburg, FL 33707.
