Mary Catherine King's Obituary
Mary Catherine “Kathy” King, 84, passed away at home in Pinellas Park, Florida, September 7, 2021, with family by her side. She was born December 2, 1936 in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, the youngest of eleven children. Mary was well traveled throughout her life's journey, most of which was due to being a United States Navy spouse. She was a long time resident of Florida and retired from the Lake County school system. She is survived by two children and their spouses, Valerie (Kevin) Mahr and Jeffrey (Kristin) King; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; as well as two sisters, Vera and Virginia, and several other family members and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Fuller King and their eldest son, Wayne Allan King, both of Maryland. There are so many great memories to share about her. The stories seem to be never ending. She was one of a kind, a firecracker that brought a smile to anyone and everyone she crossed paths with. She was beautiful inside and out, smart, strong, classy, comical and witty. Mary always wanted to be on the go, but loved spending time with her family and friends the most. She loved going shopping, reading Romance novels, playing cards, and getting her nails and hair done (because she believed you should never leave the house without looking your best). She loved her steak and lobster, and cocktail hour too. She loved all of the simple things as well, like yellow roses. Her laugh would make you laugh and her sayings would make you laugh until your belly hurt, even when they left you scratching your head because they didn't make any sense. Mary was a caring friend to all, a loving mother and grandmother to some, and a genuinely good person. She may not have liked something you said or did, but no matter what, she would still be there for you and love you unconditionally. In a million lifetimes, we would still choose to share our lives with her a million and one times more. Her passing has left a void in our hearts and an emptiness in our lives. We are truly blessed to have had the time we did with her. She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten.
Mary will be laid to rest with her husband at 1 pm on September 28, 2021 at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, Maryland. A Celebration of Life is being planned and will be announced as soon as details are available. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your local Hospice.
