Mary Elizabeth Howlett's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Ashby Howlett, age 95, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019.
Mrs. Howlett was born in Greenwich, England, of September 26, 1923, daughter of Winifred and Alfred Ashby. She met Chandler Warfield Howlett during World War II in England. She left England in November of 1946, and married Chandler Howlett on December 15, 1946 in Tampa, FL. She maintained her British accent and heritage until the very end. She was the last Founding Charter Member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Believers Sunday School Class, Friendship Circle and was very involved in her church.
Her husband preceded her in death on December 17, 1994. Survivors include her 3 children Susan Brockway of Pinellas Park, FL; Marvin Howlett (Annette) of Rome, GA; and Candace Willis of St. Petersburg, FL; 5 grandchildren Kimberly Morrow (Jennifer) of Sarasota, FL; Christine Brockway-Macek (Nicole) of Syracuse, NY and Heather, Theresa and Robert Willis of St. Petersburg, FL and 1 great-grandchild Aniston Brockway-Macek.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 17th at 11am at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Pastor Lynn Leonard will officiate.
The family will receive friends at a lunch immediately following the service.
