Mary Loretta "Lori" Hoambrecker's Obituary
Hoambrecker, Mary “ Lori” 84 of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on August 22, 2023.
She was born in Knoxville, Iowa, the oldest child of Francis & Phyllis Donnelly. She graduated from Knoxville High School and earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa. It was at St. Ambrose that she met and married her husband, Walter. Lori worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital Lori and Walter lived in Iowa after marrying and had their first child there. They moved to Appleton, Wisconsin and had their second son. The third son was born in Illinois where they raised their family in the town of Ottawa. She and her husband and three sons moved to Florida in 1986. She and her husband owned and operated Hot Suds laundromat and Big Apple Dry Cleaner for many years. She enjoyed reading and gardening and home decorating. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Walter Hoambrecker. She is survived by 3 sons, Paul, Walter (AnnMarie) & Pete, all of Pinellas county; five grandchildren, Tyler Hoambrecker, David Hoambrecker, Timothy Hoambrecker, Matthew Hoambrecker & Emily Hoambrecker; sister, Julie (Dan) Peterson – Kirksville, MO and several nieces and nephews.
For the last 10 years as she battled breast cancer, COPD, Macular Degeneration and most recently dementia, Lori was cared for by her son, Walt, his wife AnnMarie and their son David.
The family would also like to thank AnnMarie’s sisters, Margaret Ladd & Kendra Cote and niece, Megan Colwell for their many years of care and support of Lori.
At Lori’s request, there will be no service. It was her wish to be cremated with her ashes spread over the bay where her family enjoyed many hours together.
