Mrs. Mary Maxine Faulkner's Obituary
Mary Maxine Patrick “Pat” was born in Ashland, Kentucky on June 26, 1923. In 1928, Pat began attending the Corps in Ashland when a neighbor invited her to join. She became a Junior Soldier and later a Senior Soldier. Pat became Young Peoples Sergeant Major and after graduating from High school, she became Corps Assistant. She responded to the call to become an officer and became a member of the Valiant Session, which was commissioned on May 24, 1943.
As a single officer, Pat served in Charleston, Oakland Corps (West Virginia), Richmond Citadel Corps, (Virginia), and the Training College and Finance Department at the Territorial Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.
On April 2, 1951, Captain Mary Maxine Patrick “Pat” married Lt. Wesley Faulkner. Together they served in many field appointments including: Gulfport, Mississippi; Columbus, Missouri; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Huntington, West Virginia and Bradenton, Florida. In addition, they served as Divisional Youth Secretaries in the Georgia Division, where she was the Divisional Guard and Sunbeam Director. Later, they were sent to the Territorial Headquarters Finance Department. Pat was assigned to the Women’s Ministries Office and served as Secretary to the Territorial President, Order of the Silver Star Secretary, and League of Mercy Secretary. When the Faulkner’s retired on June 30, 1993, Pat had served as an active officer for over 50 years.
Pat is survived by her husband Wesley, three sons, William (daughter-in-law Elaine), John (daughter-in-law Susanne) and Jim. She has seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pat is also survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, as well as several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will take place at The Salvation Army, 3800 9th Ave N. St. Petersburg, FL 33713, with the burial at Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Salvation Army.
