Maria A. Ware's Obituary
WARE, MARIA ANITA, 79, of St. Petersburg, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2008 at St. Anthony's Hospital. Maria was born in Passau, Germany, and worked for the U.S. Army after WW II as an interpreter and court recorder. She came to the U.S. in 1951 on the Queen Mary, and was a legal secretary for the law firm of Reed Smith Shaw McClay in Pittsburgh, PA. In 1954 she joined Pan American World Airways as a stewardess and purser and flew out of New York to Europe and Africa. It was there that she met her husband Dick, a Pan Am pilot, on a flight out of London and they were married in 1957. Maria was an avid reader and loved classical music and art history. She was a docent and volunteer for many years at the Museum of Fine Arts. She loved tennis, golf, sailing and spending short vacations at their little cottage in the mountains of North Carolina. Maria is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dick; her daughter Dr. Marsha Estudillo and son-in-law Douglas of Portland, Oregon; her son Richard Ware, daughter-in-law Kelly and their three children Rachel, Brian, and Steven of St. Petersburg; her sister Berta Cangelosi and brother-in-law Dr. Victor Cangelosi of Miller Place, New York; and nephew Victor Cangelosi of Arlington, Virginia.
