I only met her a couple of times, and neither were what I would call heart warming experiences. I don't have good memories of her, but what I do have is seeing firsthand the effect that she has had on others. I know that she was a compassionate woman that loved her family very much. That she treasured her time with family and in carrying on traditions that brought every one together. My wife speaks fondly of her and misses her terribly. I only wish that I could have met her under better conditions and gotten to know her better. My prayers go to the entire family.

Granda Marguerite was a wonderful grandmother to me. She also passed on the wonderful qualities of a kind and strong women to my mother. I am grateful for that. The last time grandma and I were together she rubbed my bald head as if she was rubbing a Buddha's tummy to make a wish. It put a smile on her face that I will remember foundly. I have wonderful memories of going to lunch every February for 10 years in Florida with grandma to the English pub nearby. We would talk over hot tea and crumpets. I'll carry those always. All my love to the entire family. Maria (grand-daughter)

My first memory of Marguerite was of the beautiful lady with the beautiful daughter who took in her daughter's (slightly) injured classmate, tended his wounds and repaired his clothes before sending him on his way. I was the beneficiary of many more acts of caring and kindness from Marguerite throughout the years. More importantly, I was permitted to witness a small part of the immense love, generosity and devotion Marguerite gave her family, especially her beloved Bart. Wonderful memories of a wonderful lady!

I will forever remember all the Thanksgivings we shared together as a family. How Popi made the best mashed potatoes and Nona made the best creamed onions. She was a wonderful woman as well as an inspiration to many me included. She will be missed Alicia- granddaughter

I saw a monarch butterfly and a hummingbird today and thought of how my mother passed on her delight and her joy in taking the time to smell the roses, admire a sunset and the beauty of a full moon. Sometimes we would kid her about wearing rose-colored glasses. But then we realized she was showing us by example how to look for the positive and see a glass as half full rather than half empty. Yes her loving and "pollyanna" good nature enriched my Dad's life, her children's and in generations to come.

My first memories of Nona was when I was 2 or 3 and she would walk around the block with me as I rode my big wheel. I remember she would say "Do you wanna go for a ride down Volga?". She would point out names of trees and flowers.She spent every summer in California as I was growing up. I have nice memories of both her and my grandfather. As an adult, I will always remember that even though my grandfather had died, she used her own money to buy me my first new car, a Honda Civic, because we couldn't afford it. My only regret is that I didn't get to see her as much as an adult and that she was not in good condition to come to my wedding in Hawaii. I know she is happy now in heaven with my Grandfather.

I can remember my mom sitting at my bedside until the wee hours of the morning when I was sick, walking 10 blocks to meet me with an umbrella at grade school when there was an unexpected rain, accepting my contrariness, and teaching me all kinds of things. Although she never went to college, she was a very smart woman. Even as an adult, I would often call her to answer some trivia question I had. My mother taught me to how cook Italian meals, bake Christmas cookies, the names of every flower in the garden, and most of all to be a loving mother by example. It wasn't until I had my own child, that I realized the sacrifices she made. When I was a young adult, I often prayed that my mom and dad would die together because I couldn't bear the thought of the grief of the other. But that all changed when my dad passed and my mother endured and learned to make it on her own and flourished in her volunteer work and friendships. I feel truly blessed to have had such a loving and wise mother. I am at peace knowing she was greeted by my father on January 6, 2010. He probably said, "I've been waiting for you Midge".

Marguerite always had an open heart and a generous spirit. She made the best pizzelles I have ever tasted and one Christmas she sent a whole tin just for me. Though we have been on the opposite coasts for years, I will still miss her gentle encouragement. May her spirit be at peace with her beloved husband.
