Margaret Morris' Obituary
Our beloved mother passed away on March 21, 2025, and while time has moved forward, our hearts have taken longer to let her go.
She was born in Elmville, New York, to John and Bernice Holotik. Her father, John, was a proud U.S. Navy World War II veteran who served as a submariner—an experience that shaped the strength and resilience of the family she grew up in. Later in life, she moved to Florida, where she made her home in Madeira Beach.
She was previously married before later meeting the love of her life, Frederick Bryan Morris, a Sergeant with the Treasure Island Police Department. Together they built a family rooted in love and devotion. After Frederick’s passing in 1991, she faced life’s hardships with remarkable determination. Though she had only a sixth-grade education, she never allowed that to limit her. She worked tirelessly to provide for her family, choosing a life of selflessness and never remarrying.
She worked at the Treasure Island Fun Center, held various odd jobs, and later settled into a long career at Winn-Dixie, where she eventually retired. No matter where she worked, her greatest role was always being a mother.
She is survived by her children, Bridgett A. Morris and Shawn R. Morris; Shawn’s wife, Heather; their four children—Luna, Ayla, Lucy, and Tiki—and Shawn and Heather’s stepsons, Eli Garcia and Ezekiel Fieger, all of whom were deeply loved and brought her great joy.
She was a woman who gave without hesitation and loved without condition. Everything she did was for her children and family, often putting her own needs last. Her strength was quiet, her sacrifices many, and her love immeasurable.
In accordance with her final wishes, she asked that her ashes be spread in the forest and the ocean—places of peace, freedom, and beauty that reflected her spirit. She believed that in doing so, she would return to watch over those she loved most, coming back as an eagle, forever soaring above and protecting her family.
Though she may no longer be with us in body, her presence remains in the lives she shaped, the values she instilled, and the love that continues to surround her. Letting her go has not been easy, and perhaps it never fully will be—but her legacy lives on in all of us.
