Lydia M. Springer's Obituary
Lydia Springer was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on July 2nd, 2021 to join her husband (Deane Springer), her six siblings (Edna, Ed, Herb, Ruth, Grace, and Leora), and many loved ones in heaven at the age of 90. Her faith in Christ and love of children defined her life. She is survived by her daughter Myla Siler and granddaughter Ariel Siler.
She was born to John and Minnie Nusser on December 29, 1930 on a farm in Copeland, Kansas. After graduating from high school in Copeland, she received an Associate’s degree from St. John’s College (Winfield, KS) and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Colorado State in Greeley, CO. Lydia spent her career teaching elementary school children in the Lutheran school system. She retired in 1995 after almost 40 years of service to Grace Lutheran School in St. Petersburg, FL.
After retiring, Lydia moved to Denver, CO where she continued to serve in Christian education, working with the after-school care program at St. Andrews Lutheran Church and School in Denver. She later returned to the beautiful sunny St. Petersburg, FL to spend more time with her daughter and granddaughter.
Lydia loved to read, and she loved arts and crafts of all kinds including ceramics and latch hook. She continually challenged her mind with word search puzzles, and loved to send adult coloring book pictures to her friends and family.
Her funeral service is scheduled for 2PM on July 10th, 2021 at Memorial Park Funeral Home 5750 49th Street North St. Petersburg, FL 33709.
