Lucy Karen Brushaber's Obituary
Lucy Brushaber, 85, of Seminole Florida sadly left us on January 29, 2023 at Freedom Square Rehab of Seminole. Lucy was born on January 14, 1938 at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint, Michigan to Preston (Otis) and Eva Potter. She was the youngest of four children graduating from Davison High School in 1956. From High School she graduated from Hurley School of Nursing in Flint and met the love of her life Lavon (Bud) Brushaber from Gladwin, Michigan. After schooling they moved to St. Petersburg, Fl and were married on June 3, 1960 a union that lasted 50 years until Bud’s passing on July 5, 2010. In November of 1963, Bradley James was born but died tragically from a drowning mishap on December 8, 1966 at the age of three. They lived the balance of their lives in the St. Petersburg / Tampa area. In July of 1961, Lucy accepted a nursing position at the VA Medical Center at Bay Pines, Florida, of which she worked for 32 years retiring in 1993. After retirement, Bud and Lucy traveled the world from Alaska to Antarctica to South America to Europe to South East Asia to Egypt and places in between. She was an active member of the Sorority Beta Sigma Phi - Laureate Epsilon Theta. She is survived by eighteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bud and son Bradley James, her siblings Preston Potter Jr., Edward Potter, and Beverly Hartwig. Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, St. Petersburg on Tuesday February 7th from 12:00 to 2:00 with burial soon after.
