Lucy Pauline Bonfiglio's Obituary
Lucia Pauline Bonfiglio
More commonly know as “I love Lucy”. Lucy was born in Hartford Connecticut on December 13, 1927. Her parents were immigrants who traveled from Sicily seeking a better life for their 4 children: Katherine, Salvatore, John (Johnny Red) and Lucy.
In the early 1940’s the family, relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida. At that time Lucy attended and graduated from St. Petersburg High school in 1947.
Throughout her life, Lucy was worked in the retail sector and was affiliated with Webb City, Florida Power, Sears, and Macy’s Department Stores at Tyrone Mall. Anyone who knew Lucy knew her to be an independent and care-free woman, hopping on bus to see the leaves turn, strolling Downtown for lunch and window shopping, traveling with her Niece Terri just to see the Macy’s Day Parade.
Music was a big part of her life. Lucy never met a song she could not dance to; no matter where she was. Lucy was very active in the “Red Hat Society”, and social functions at the Church.
Lucy was married twice, having the first of three (3) Sons, Nicholas Joseph in 1954. Lucy was again married on April 25th, 1958 to Carmelo “Barney” Bonfiglio, a rising star of Peoples Gas Systems. Lucy had two additional Sons, Joseph Nicholas, and John Carmelo, all three survive today.
Despite the challenges of everyday life Lucy spread joy to those who were touched by her presents, always cheerful, even to her last’s days. A strong catholic upbringing, she was generous and kind, and had a sympathetic ear to those in need.
Lucy was full of life, and leaves behind her three sons, 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Her memory and compassion will live forever in our hearts. May she rest in peace.
