Lucille Bonnie Wilkinson, a resilient and tenacious woman, passed away on October 31, 2023, in Largo, Florida, at the age of 98. Born on August 10, 1925, in Wilmington, North Carolina, Lucille lived a life filled with determination, and unwavering strength.
Lucille was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Wilkinson, and her daughters Florence Dial and Justine Young. She was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Janet Wilkinson.
Lucille's memory will forever be cherished by her children: Daniel Wilkinson, Fran Cantwell (David), Joseph Wilkinson (Kim), Janet Clark (Shawn), Theresa Onusko (Edward), and Tom Wilkinson. Lucille's legacy extends to her 30 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
After the untimely passing of her husband in the 1970s, Lucille embraced the role of both mother and father to her children. She worked tirelessly to provide for them, demonstrating her unwavering dedication and love as she navigated the challenges of single parenthood.
Lucille's feisty and strong-willed nature propelled her forward, ensuring her children had the best opportunities in life. Lucille was known for her independent spirit and determination. She lived on her own until her health required her to enter hospice care. Throughout her life, Lucille found solace and joy in sewing and crocheting. She took immense pride in creating beautiful baby blankets for each of her grandchildren, leaving behind a tangible symbol of her love and care.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from 10-11 am. The burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery at 11 am, where Lucille will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Thomas.
Lucille Bonnie Wilkinson will be remembered as a woman of strength and determination. Her feisty spirit and independent nature will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
