Lottie "Jo" was a great inspiration to those who have been working to make our neighborhood a safe place to live and raise kids. Her prayers helped my wife survive cancer and receive a miraculous healing. Her creativity and energy were awesome. Two years ago she organized HEART CRY: "The Gathering of Intercessors to Birth Righteousness" view link
Jo and I had great times together. We traveled to many wonderful places in Aglow, we shared hotel rooms, beds, food, and a wonderful sisterhood. I will always be grateful to our God for the blessing of a rich and precious friendship with Jo. I know she will be terribly missed by family and friends. In His Unfailing Love.....Candy
Who was Jo Bellamy, you might be wondering? She was many things to many people. To some, a wonderful Mother who provided a smile and open arms to hold you. She could bake delicious cakes and had the ingenuity to solve almost any problem in her path. So kind was Lottie Jo Bellamy that much of the city of St. Petersburg affectionately referred to her as "Momma Jo". • To Aglow, (An International Christian Women's Association) she was the faithful, devoted, creative genius that decorated everything from a glitter banner for the local St. Petersburg Chapter to coordinating all of the decorations for the gigantic banquet and meeting facility that hosted the International Women's Aglow Meeting in 1999; right in the heart of Orlando FL. Day or night, by bungee corded dolly or with a van chocked so full of treasures that she could hardly see to maneuver the vehicle; Momma Jo was a determined woman. She always came through. She was absolutely one of the most creative and giving ladies, many of us have ever had the privilege to know. Most recently, Jo climbed the ranks of Aglow to become the St. Petersburg Chapter President and then overseer of the West Central Florida Region. She traveled far and wide to share the love of Jesus and fan the flames that kept her faith Aglow for Christ.
• To her Church-Faith Community Fellowship and Worship Center; Momma Jo was a faithful member who respected her Pastor and poured out her loving and giving on the church family.
Despite a busy life style, and growing young men at home; Momma Jo managed to sew incredibly anointed, prophetic banners, hold Concerts of Prayer at Williams Park, lead an active role as a city-wide and International Intercessor, and even stay politically active locally. The Mayor of St. Petersburg was visited by Jo on more than one occasion. Jo had a knack for getting her point across with the love of God and a velvet fist.
• To her family, Momma Jo was a kaleidoscope of color. Every way you turned Jo, you would always see something new. From the problem solving skills and creativity of sewing and decorating anything; to her dramatic abilities and great sense of humor; her wit and dry sense of humor made her stand out from the crowd. "Why I'm as old as dirt!" She once exclaimed on a microphone with a totally straight face. Jo's tongue in cheek sense of humor was legendary. We all laughed hysterically, but as was so often the case with Jo, there was an element of truth to her humor. God made Adam from the dust of the ground, and that said; perhaps we all have a bit of "old dirt" in our lives. • To her friends, Momma Jo would stay up until midnight on a phone call with a friend or get out of bed in the middle of the night to help a fledgling dance ministries in need. She would donate her time, talents and materials to sew dance garments in the wee hours of the morning just to see someone else realize their dreams. • To the city of St. Petersburg, Jo was a Nehemiah. She would face off with elected officials about the "tough issues" in civil meetings that let her scripturally based views be known. She was never too tired or too shy to help someone in need. Jo was active in feeding the Homeless and Vista Volunteers, over the years.
Jo had a special soft spot in her heart for the youth of our city. She evangelized constantly and affectionately prodded many young men to "pull their pants up", said in so much love that the young men would simply reply, "Yes, Ma'am," as they attended to her request. Young people respected Jo Bellamy. She could relate to them and was truly "young at heart". Jo taught young people so much! She was a giver, just like her Mom and Dad. Lottie Jo Bellamy has truly given Jesus a grand Birthday gift in going home. I believe that she is dancing before the throne of God in Heaven.
With love and blessings, Cristana
As we gather together in remembrance of our Sister, our Mother, our Grandmother, our Aunt, our Neighbor and our Sister in Christ Lottie Jo, I cannot be sad. It is unthinkable for me to feel sad for our cherished family member has met the criteria of 2 Timothy 4:7-8 -7. Mama Jo has fought the good fight; she has finished the race, and has kept the faith. She has received the crown of righteousness that was laid up for her which the Lord, the righteous Judge, has given to Lottie Jo on that Day, and not only to our sister in Christ but also to all who have loved His appearing. According to Luke 20:36 Lottie Jo can not die any more for she is equal unto the angels: and is one of God's children, for being a child of the resurrection. Inclosing, there is so much I want to say and I will miss her immensely! I have been a part of the family since 1962. Jo was a second Mom to me. Because I grew up in family of all boys and a neighborhood of mostly boys Mama Jo and Mama Ester would always make sure I had a Barbie doll cake for a number of my childhood birthdays, which made a big difference in my life. The kindness she extended to me as a child and as an adult will be greatly missed. Jo loved me unconditionally and I so appreciate her love, support, and attention she gave me. Mama Jo, shared with me one of greatest gift one can share with another person the love of Jesus Christ. Jo's Christian witness and testimony has had the greatest impact on my life. I am a benefactor for her relationship with Christ, and I am very thankful for her Service to Christ. Inclosing, I am comfort that being a joint heirs with Christ, I will see her soon. Desmond and Family I love you all and my prayers are with you. I am so sad I cannot be in Florida to support you. Pamela L. Footman
"Momma Jo" was a Godsend to me when I first arrived in Saint Petersburg many years ago. My girlfriend Pam Footman gave me her address and told me to be sure to look her up once I arrived here. My life has not been the same since that very first day I met her. Immediately she lead me into prayer and gave me an entire new outlook on the joy of Holiness!!!!....I'm sadden she is no longer her with us but I also rejoice knowing she is basking in the presence of the Lord that she loved with her entire being.I'm so glad she received my card a few weeks ago..."Momma Jo" you go GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Desmond,my heart goes out to you and your family, James and I will always continue to keep you all in prayer.
