Lois Herron's Obituary
Lois Ann Herron, age 88 of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2022.
Lois was born on February 8, 1934 in Taylor, Pennsylvania, the only child to William and Elizabeth Burns. She was valedictorian and drum majorette, graduating in 1951 from Moosic High School in Pennsylvania. She attended Penn State University, studying accounting and finance with additional studies in finance and humanities at Suffolk Community College and St. Petersburg College.
After moving from Moosic, Pennsylvania to Long Island, New York, Lois settled in St. Petersburg, Florida. She worked with United Way of Pinellas County, retiring from her position as Vice President of Marketing after 21 years. In her usual fashion, after retiring from the United Way, she volunteered with AARP holding all volunteer positions available within the state organization including the Florida State President. She loved to travel, especially on cruise ships and went to many places world-wide with friends and family. Lois was an active member of the Presbyterian Church.
Lois is survived by her children Michael Herron and Carol Van Houten (honorable mention), Julianne Davis and her husband Rick, and Michelle Herron and Wayne Collins (honorable mention); granddaughters, Jena Threadgill, Mary Herron and Maria Threadgill; grandsons, Chris Threadgill, Mark Davis (Erika) and John Davis (Brittany); great-grandchildren, Colton Threadgill, Elliot Davis, Nathan Davis, Cason Threadgill, Eliza Davis, Julian Herron, and Luke Davis; the best caregiver ever, Diana Wylie; and “MyKitty” Callie. She is preceded in death by her son, John Threadgill, Jr., and parents, William and Elizabeth Burns.
Our family extends our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Suncoast Hospice and Inspired Living at Ivy Ridge for their compassionate care on her final path.
A celebration of life service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, St. Petersburg, FL., on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 10:00 am, with inurnment to follow.
