Lois Ann Coots' Obituary
Lois Ann Coots (1947–2024)
Even though she was always late, the fun didn’t start until she walked in the room. She was always the brightest light, and now that light has dimmed. Lois Ann Coots (77), formerly of Pinellas Park, FL, passed away at Lexington Medical Center in Columbia, SC from leukemia on March 23, 2024.
Lois was born in Greenfield, MA on February 17, 1947, to Robert and Beatrice Lincoln. She grew up with her two brothers, and her younger sister. She attended Athol High School before receiving her teaching degree from Florida State University in 1969. She taught elementary school for over 30 years and continued her passion in education as a substitute teacher and volunteer, up until her recent illness. Her life was devoted to children, first as a teacher, then a parent and a devoted grandparent.
Lois met the love of her life, Danny, in the summer of 1968 at Lindsley Lumber, where they both worked. She was attracted to his striking blue eyes, and they were married in December of the same year. They spent their years together traveling and exploring new places and living life to its fullest.
Lois and Danny welcomed their first child, LeeAnn, in 1975, followed by Danny in 1976. She enjoyed raising her children and supporting them in the various activities they were involved in. She was a devoted mother and proud of all their achievements.
Though she loved being a parent and teacher, Lois’s favorite role was that as a grandparent. She treasured her time with her grandkids and loved being a part of their daily lives, never failing to attend their activities and celebrations. She was always up for any excursions they had planned.
Lois had a soft spot for her furry friends, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were. She had many pets over the years, including dogs, rabbits, hamsters, a hedgehog, amphibians, reptiles, and even a monkey!
Lois had lifelong friends from high school, college and her teaching career. She attended reunions faithfully, and stayed in touch with everyone, regardless of the distance between them. She made friends easily anywhere she went and left a lasting impression.
Lois will always be remembered for her adventurous spirit and having fun. We’ll always imagine hearing her say “Let’s go!” one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better parent, grandparent, sister and friend, and will miss her every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew her.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Danny” Coots, her parents, Robert Lincoln Jr. and Beatrice Conn, and her brothers, Richard Lincoln and Ronald Lincoln. She is survived by her children, LeeAnn (Brian) Hinken, Thomas “Danny” Coots II, her grandchildren, Rylie Hinken and Bryce Hinken, her sister, Judy (David) Bush, 4 nieces and a great-niece.
The graveside service is Saturday, April 6, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5750 49th St. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33709
