Lise Jeannine LaMatting's Obituary
Lise Jeannine LaMatting, affectionately known as "Mema," passed away on October 25, 2025, in St. Petersburg, Florida, at the age of 73. Born on February 9, 1952, in Vermont, Lise was a vibrant and strong-willed individual who dedicated her life to her family and community.
Lise's profound love for cooking meant her home was always filled with the aroma of delicious meals, especially during her favorite holiday, Christmas. Her home was a hub of warmth and generosity, extending not just to her family but also to her neighbors, whom she frequently assisted by providing rides to stores or appointments. Lise's commitment to her community was evident in her work ethic, as she often picked up extra shifts, driven by a deep-seated belief in the value of community support.
A lover of the color purple and an avid QVC shopper, Lise found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Yet, it was her role as a grandmother that truly defined her. She cherished her time with her grandchildren—Jayden, Layla, Leo, and Lizzie—embracing every moment of joy and mischief, from watching over them all at once to indulging them with slurpees during their adventures together.
Lise was preceded in death by her husband, David LaMatting, who passed away in 2002. She is survived by her son, Michael Lamatting, with daughter-in-law Ashley Cumming, and her cherished grandchildren.
Lise "Mema" LaMatting will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her unwavering support for those around her, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and generosity. Her legacy of love and dedication to her family and community will continue to inspire those who knew her.
