Ms. Linda H Mathews' Obituary
Mathews, Linda Holley, 74 of St. Petersburg, died Thursday, June 8th at Hospice of The Florida Suncoast, Empath. She was born to Jack C and Sally O Holley at Mound Park Hospital in St. Petersburg on December 4th, 1942. She was a graduate of Northeast High School Class of 1960 and attended Andrew College. She retired after 35 years with the State of Florida working for the Department of Children and Families and Department Adult Protective Services. During her life Linda was passionate about gardening, historical interests, and building projects. She was a member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church for 60+ years and recently had been attending 5th Avenue Baptist Church. She was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and grandaunt who passionately loved her family. She is survived by her daughter Sherry L Mathews, St. Petersburg, a son, Michael (Nguyet) Mathews, St. Petersburg, four grandchildren, Spencer Mathews, Jade (Matheus) Almeida , Jacqueline Mathews, and Eli Mathews all of St. Petersburg, a brother John R (Pam) Holley, a nephew Jason (Shannon) Holley, a niece Kristin ( James) Gonzalez, and 2 grandnieces and 2 grandnephews. A celebration of life service will take place 10:00am June 24th at 5th Avenue Baptist Church, 4901 5th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL 33710 and the interment at Memorial Park Cemetery 5750 49th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33709 will directly follow. The family will visit with friends at 5th Avenue Baptist Church Hobson Hall at noon directly following the interment. Refreshments will be provided.
