I was his first child, Marion. My sister Billie Jo was his second daughter. She died when she was 13th months old. So sad to lose a child. Even sadder to lose 2. My dad, Byron Thompson, bought a 1969 Ford Galaxy in 1973. I remember that Lewis, my dad, William and myself took it for a spin on I 26 out of Columbia, S. C. With Lewis at the wheel, he reached over 90 mph. I remember thinking, this car will never go this fast again and I was right! Lewis and Helga were good friends of my family for many years. I had the pleasure of working with Lew in the ER at Bay Pines many years ago. It didn't take long to discover that the master sergeant I first encountered was a devoted family man with a heart of gold. I'm sad to hear of his passing & am very sorry for your loss.
