Leo L Jean's Obituary
Jean, Leo L., passed away one July 6, 2013 in Clearwater, FL. Born to parents Phillip Jean and Yvonne Violette on April 1, 1933 in Fitchburg, MA. He moved to Pass-a-Grille, FL in 1955. Joined Pass-a-Grille Police Force in January 1957 and remained with St. Pete Beach Police Force after they consolidated. Member of the St. Pete Beach Volunteer Fire Department with his best friend of many years, our beloved and departed, "Bucky Hartman". After 35years of service he retired and enjoyed the golf course, ball games at the Trop and trips out west with his best friend and life partner, Gloria. Thank God for G.L.O.R.I.A. We love you for taking care of him for the past 45years. Leaves behind 4 of 6 children, Stephen, Kathy, Leo and Mikey, deceased Linda and Bobby; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Served on St. Pete Beach Police in many capacities: Acting Chief for 6months, first Detective on Department in the mid 1970's and Captain of the first police boat. Retired in 1992 as Captain and Police Administrator for St. Pete Beach Department of Public Safety. Member of the Police Dive Team, former member of PBA and FOP, Sertoma Club and officer/member of St. Pete Beach Pistol Club. He battled with his heart condition for many years, never letting anyone know the pain and discomfort he struggled with. A strong and courageous man will be missed by all. Rest in peace grandpa. In lieu of flowers please send donations to The American Heart Foundation. A viewing will be held on July 12th from 10am-12noon with a service to follow at 12noon.
