The shared Love that I hold within my heart for my baby sister will live on in my soul throughout eternity.
The memories between us are vast so I will list the first memory of her unique ability to light up my world , as well as a memory from the last night I was blessed with her presence.
I was 12 years old when she was first placed within my arms. The bond between us was instantaneously familiar, seeming as if I had somehow known her before. Immediately I sensed a need to be a protecting spirit in her life, as well as a trusted confidant and Friend. Even as an infant I could feel a comforting aura of unconditional love radiating from her little body as I held her. She looked up at me with those chocolate brown eyes and I just knew …
I knew from this moment that Lea and I were meant to be so much more than sisters and friends. We were to become deep spiritual teachers to each other.
Later Lea’s unconditional love for everyone and everything grew into a compassionate and sensitive presence that has touched me in the most profound way. I have learned so much about what true forgiveness, and acceptance looks like from her.
As the years passed by Lea and I have shared many experiences of the same nature. We have spent decades sharing our wisdom and individual perspective of life with one another, aiding in each of our life journeys.
One of the last memories I have to share of Lea is from the last night I spent with her. It was just four days before she was welcomed into the bosom of God.
Lea, Cassy and I had just left a restaurant and private karaoke room where we had spent the evening serenading each other in celebration of my birthday the following day. We had walked a couple blocks upon calling an uber when suddenly Lea squealed in exhilaration. You know, that contagious joyous high pitched sound she would make when she experienced excitement.
She looked up towards the night sky, excitedly pointing saying “ Did you see that’? ! I looked to the sky and saw a faint flicker of light, but had missed the full extent of what she had witnessed. A comet had shot across the sky! I believe that this was a special gift to Lea alone. It was not meant for me and Cassy to see the full extent of it, for it was a wink from God to Lea.
Lea had a special connection to the stars. She even had one named after her by a friend. She reacted to the comet in the same manner in which one would expect from a special spirit such as she was and will forever continue to be- A soul filled with a joyful exuberance for life that will roam throughout the Heavens eternally. This is for certain.
Her light will live on inside my heart forever and my eternal love will roam with her until we are united again-
