Kenneth Earl Gilmore's Obituary
Kenneth Earl Gilmore, known affectionately as "Poppop," passed away on October 23, 2025, at the age of 82 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Born on November 1, 1943, in Pueblo, Colorado, Kenneth was a man of many interests and talents, leaving a lasting impact on both his community and family.
Kenneth's career was marked by his dedication to both his country and his community. He served as an Aeronautical Mechanic in the United States Air Force, a role that showcased his technical skills and patriotism. Following his military service, he continued a life of public service with Pinellas County, where he spent many years as a Supervisor at the South Cross Bayou Water Reclamation Facility. There, he was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to improving his community.
Beyond his professional life, Kenneth was a lover of history and science, passions that he pursued with enthusiasm throughout his life. He was also an avid reader and had a unique and enduring love for his many cats, each of whom he would rename as he got to know their personalities. His lighthearted nature was also evident in his love for watching the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants with his grandchildren, which brought joy and laughter to their lives.
Kenneth's family was central to his life. He is survived by his daughter, Lori (Mark) Bishop; grandchildren, Samuel (Holly) Bishop and Alaina (Justin) Lundmark; great-grandchildren, Addelyn and Brinley Bishop; and siblings, Jerry Gilmore, Bill Gilmore, Kathy Hayner, and Linda Chambers. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Gilmore, and his parents, Warren and Mabel Gilmore.
Kenneth’s legacy is one of service, love, and laughter—an enduring reminder of a life well lived and deeply felt. His memory will continue to ripple through the hearts of those who knew him.
