Kenneth J. Bond's Obituary
ST. PETERSBURG – Kenneth J. Bond, 64, entered the kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday May 19th, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. He passed from this life peacefully and surrounded by family. Kenneth was born on November 15th, 1955 in New York City and was the fourth child, second son, of Charles and Florence Bond.
Kenneth had a love for gardening. He was the second member of his family, after his mother Florence, to serve as President of “El Sol Brillante”, a community garden located in the Lower East Side of New York. There, he formed life-long bonds with and will be remembered by his friends Frank, Chad, Junior, Max, Susan B. and many more. He was known for his ability to fix just about anything and loved to tinker.
Kenneth’s sense of humor was dry and sometimes a little twisted, but his laugh was contagious. His quick wittiness was ever present and shined through to his last days.
He served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a radio operator. He received an honorable discharge after achieving the rank of Lance Corporal.
He is survived by his two Daughters, Ryan Bond and Holly Johnson and two grandchildren; his sisters Edna Bond, Florence Figueroa and Margaret Thide; his brothers Patrick Bond, John Gonzalez and Anthony Gorman; many nieces and nephews and “Mi Amor” Norann Robles.
Kenneth was predeceased by his parents Charles and Florence; his brothers Charles “Chucky” Bond and Joseph Bond; and sister Doreen Calderon.
“May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sunshine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
In lieu of flowers, please donate to El Sol Brillante at Patagonia.
