Kathryn A Dethloff's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Kathy
October 23, 1951 – August 17, 2025
On August 17, 2025, we said goodbye to an extraordinary woman — Kathy. At 73 years young, Kathy had truly lived many lives, filled with love, laughter, and moments that made every day special.
For the past decade, those of us lucky enough to be part of her chosen family experienced the joy and warmth she brought into every room. Kathy loved to laugh and had a lighthearted spirit that was contagious. She was crazy about chocolate, cats, and, of course, anything pink. Green, however, was another story — unless it meant a peaceful stroll through nature, especially in the company of her favorite people.
Kathy hated to feel limited and would push to do as many things as possible — often in the most stubborn way imaginable, and we loved her for it. She had a blast going to bingo, and bowling was one of her greatest joys — she even had her own set of bowling shoes and a personalized bowling ball. Every morning, her favorite music filled the room; she loved Jennifer Lopez, and her go-to songs were On the Floor and Dinero.
Kathy’s strength and resilience were remarkable; she had a way of surpassing every expectation, time and time again. There were moments when we all believed she was truly bulletproof.
Though Kathy did not have blood relatives by her side, she built a family in the truest sense — a family bound by love, laughter, and shared memories. Her chosen family will forever carry her in their hearts.
The best way to honor Kathy’s beautiful life is simple: love cats with all your heart, indulge in chocolate, surround yourself with pink, save your green for St. Patrick’s Day, and never pass up a chance to dance or bowl. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the smiles, stories, and hearts of everyone she touched.
