Katherine "Kacy" Haynes Turner's Obituary
Turner, Katherine “Kacy” Haynes, 80, passed away peacefully Friday morning, October 5, 2018. She was born in East Liberty, Ohio to her mother Phyllis and father William Haynes. Kacy grew up there, where her grandfather and later her mother and stepfather owned and operated Harding Small Brass Machinery Company, which employed more than half of the town’s inhabitants and produced essential machinery and equipment used in World War II. Kacy graduated from Ohio State University in 1960 with a degree in economics and immediately went to work for AG Edwards on Wall Street. In 1963 she moved to St. Petersburg and was employed by William R. Hough & Company where she worked for more than 30 years in the municipal bonds department. Kacy was active in advancing opportunities for women in the workplace and in 1978 she was nominated as one of the top business women in the nation by ABWA. She loved her family, her church, boating, fishing, horseback riding and cooking. Kacy is survived by her husband, Scharf Turner, her son Timothy Coyle and Scharf’s daughters Lisa, Tori, Dody, and their children Julien, Max, Rebecca, and Zachary. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting a donation to Suncoast Hospice of Mid Pinellas.
