Karla Gae Kresge's Obituary
Karla Gae Kresge (née Reid), 84, passed away on August 18, 2025, in Largo, Florida. Born on April 2, 1941, in Neptune, New Jersey, Karla dedicated 37 years of her life to educating young minds as an Art Teacher, nurturing creativity and expression among her students.
Karla was a devout member of the Gateway Christian Center, where she was revered as a godly woman who deeply loved the Lord and exemplified the teachings of Christ. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, evident in her active participation in Bible studies and her community at church.
Besides her commitment to faith and education, Karla was known for her vibrant personality and zest for life. She enjoyed her time at the YMCA participating in water aerobics and silver sneaker classes. Karla's artistic and creative flair was apparent in her impeccable style and the joy she took in dressing to impress. She was always seen with a smile, ready to greet everyone with warmth and friendliness.
Karla's love extended to her family, who feel her loss deeply. She is survived by her daughter, Karisa McElroy; son-in-law, David McElroy; grandchildren, Kandace (Derek), Hannah (Hayden), Paige (Aaron), and Ethan (Lizzie); great-granddaughter, Hazel; brother, Gary (Cindy) Reid; and niece and nephew, Jennifer and Gregory. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kresge, in 2017, and her sister, Diane.
A service to honor her life and legacy will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 26, at 11 am. Karla's life was a testament to her faith, love for her family, and dedication to education, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
