LT. Col. (Ret.) “Old soldiers never die, they just fade away.”
89, years young, from Belleair (and previously from Sebring), left this world surrounded by his three children. He was born in Vestaburg, PA and served in the U.S. Army for 25 years. He
was preceded in death by his soulmate of 64 years, Luisa. A good man, husband, and father;
he is survived by son, Michael Rettstatt and wife Lisa of Kissimmee; daughter, Laura Carver and husband Tom of Burke, VA, and Karla Rettstatt and husband Larry Hineman of Belleair. He had four wonderful grandchildren, Kasey Carver and his wife Paula, Karla Dawn Rettstatt, Vicci Rettstatt and Spenser Hineman. He had five great-grandchildren, Keegan, Kain, and Kennedy Carver, Leila and Anthony Rettstatt. The family has decided to have a private ceremony at
Arlington National Cemetery where Karl and Luisa will be laid to rest together. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Wonders Foundation, 308 Roebling Road North,Belleair, FL 33756.
