Juanita Rae. Cherrix's Obituary
Juanita Rae Cherrix, of Seminole/Largo, 88, passed away August 16, 2017, after an extended illness.
Juanita, “Nini”, was wife to Payton Cherrix, and mother to Michael, Richard and Mark (Debbie) Denlinger; grandmother to John, Jennifer, Katie, Elizabeth (Scott Reaves), and Seth Denlinger (Kaya Blauvelt); and great-grandmother to James and Elizabeth Grace Denlinger Reaves.
Born Juanita Huber of Dayton, Ohio, on October 14, 1928, to parents William Huber and Anna Marie Kouse, and brother and sister John and Mary Margaret Cushwa. In Ohio, she worked as a candy-striper, machine worker, school bus driver, and restauranteur -- all in addition to being a hardworking homemaker.
She and her family moved to St. Petersburg in 1964, where she was a long-time entrepreneur and business owner of Rudy’s Rentals and Hardware and J&R Rentals among other ventures. She also served as the post-mistress of Kenneth City for several years.
With her husband Payton, she visited dozens of countries and traveled extensively across the United States. They were avid collectors of various antiques and spent many years showing classic automobiles.
She was known as a loving friend, loyal mother and grandmother, talented cook and lover of travel. She was renowned in personal circles for her pie baking and quick wit. As the mother of three boys, she had a high spirit of adventure and did not back down from hard work or challenging opportunities.
“Nini” will be missed by many, especially her surviving family members.
Juanita is pre-deceased by her parents, sister, brother, eldest son and former spouse Rudy Denlinger.
