Joseph V Bernardo's Obituary
Joseph V Bernardo, 89, of St Petersburg, Florida, passed away on July 27th, 2026. Joseph was a devoted husband and fierce provider to all he loved. Joe was born in Brooklyn, New York but raised in New Providence, NJ where he remained until his retirement to Florida. He worked his entire 45+ year career at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ as a master electrician for the company. Joe never knew the word no and would do anything to help a family member, friend or acquaintance in need. When Joe walked into a room everyone knew who he was because of his humble kindness and gentle spirit.
Joe loved fishing, American cars especially Cadillacs, movies, chocolate, and pasta, but most of all, when his family was together.
Joe is survived by his eldest son Joe E. Bernardo, wife Marlane and grandson Thomas as well as his daughter Cathy Bray, husband Jeff and grandson Andrew. He will join his beloved wife Janice in heaven along with all of his adopted and natural parents, brothers and sisters.
Services will be held on Friday, July 31st, 2026 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am with a funeral service at 10 am. Entombment will take place at 11 am.
