De la Torre, Jorge E.
Passed in peace Thursday, September 17, 2015, 10 days short of his 96th birthday. Preceded in death by his wife, Noris A. and son George E. Survived by his son Charlie De la Torre, daughter Noris Babb, daughter-in-law Lynn De la Torre, son-in-law Steve Babb, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jorge was born in Cuba and moved to the United States with his family in 1961. He worked at the then Union Trust Bank and later retired from the City of St. Petersburg.
He is remembered by his family and friends as a dedicated husband, loving father, grandfather and faithful friend. As a young man he grew up working on the family farm. He especially loved working the cattle. Later in life he enjoyed watching his home town Rays, reading, writing and being with his grandkids. Proud of his Cuban heritage and honored to be an American.
He will be buried at Memorial Park Cemetery St. Petersburg, FL on Monday September 21st at 3pm after a short funeral mass. Family and friends are welcome. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday at 10am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 11565 66th Ave, Seminole, FL 33772.
