As many of you know, my name is Jeff Thomas, and I had the honor of being Mark’s older brother. Mark was a fisherman at heart, and many of you knew him as a cook at Skyway Jack’s. He had a way of bringing people together , whether it was through a good meal, a good laugh, or just being himself.
If you knew Mark, you knew he loved to tease the women, and especially Jane. That was just part of his charm. He’d always say, with that smile, ‘You know how I am.
I remember back when I used to raise rabbits and sell baby bunnies around Easter. One time, a couple came by and wanted two female rabbits. Well, Mark helped with the sale and even set them up with a cage and food. About 5 months later, I get a phone call from this lady, and she says, Jeff, I don’t think those were 2 females. Because now we have 8 more!
That was Mark, always part of a good story, whether he meant to be or not. I also remember when I had hundreds of rabbits to take care of and had to leave for Boy Scout camp. That’s a lot to put on someone, but Mark stepped in without hesitation and took care of everything while I was gone.
That’s who he was. He showed up. He helped. He didn’t make a big deal about it, he just did it, because he cared.
I am heartbroken by his loss, but I feel incredibly blessed and honored to have had him as my little brother. that is something I will carry with me always.”
You may be gone from our sight, but you will never be gone from our hearts. Rest easy, my little brother, until we meet again. With my deepest condolences to the rest of the family, Jeff
