Mr. John D. Swinney Sr.'s Obituary
John D Swinney Sr of St Petersburg, Florida passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 31, 2019 in Northside Hospital, St. Petersburg. He was 84. John was born April 7, 1934 in Parkin, Arkansas; the son of the late John and Cassie Swinney. Throughout his career he worked as a machinist for various manufacturer companies including the Quaker Oats Company.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn Traxler, Sybil Corey, brothers, Mason, Ernie, Jack and Cecil Swinney, great granddaughter, (infant), Trinity Chavez, nieces Pam Nevel and Laura Duncan, nephew, Toni Fell, Father-in-law John Arpini, Mother-in-law, Albina Arpini, sister-in-law Alda Dufek, and brothers-in-law, Zel Traxler, Lee Dufek, Kenneth Corey, Gerald Johnson and Phillip Cimino Sr. John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Antonia Arpini Swinney, John D. Swinney Jr. and his fiancé Nancy Kovalik, daughter Linda Swinney, son David Swinney, daughter Mary Swinney Reilly and her husband Keith Reilly. He also leaves behind his sister Shirley Jean Johnson; Johns's four grandchildren; Jonathan Swinney, (Melissa Thomas), Jessica Swinney, (Danny Chavez), Kelsey Fornoff, (Chris Fornoff), and Nicholas Swinney along with four great grandsons, Richard Herrington Jr, Tristan Chavez, Oaklee and Braxton Fornoff. His heart is always with them.
Left behind to cherish his memory are several extended family members; sister-in-law, Corine Swinney, (Cecil), Roseanne Cimino, (Phillip Sr.), brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Mary Fiorenza, daughters-in-law, Laurie Swinney and Anissa Osterwise, longtime best friend and an honorable family member, Melvin Harrell. John also leaves behind, many nieces, nephews, cousins, step grandchildren, and numerous good friends. He loved them one and all.
Visitation will be 11:30am until 12:30pm followed by funeral service at 12:30pm Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home 5750 49th St. N, St Petersburg, Florida 33709. He will be laid rest in the Garden of Reflection of Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Petersburg, FL.
